Tamara and I met on the 19th of January 2013 at the Wedding of James and Erika, I went to high school with James and was the Wedding Photographer, Tamara was a guest and worked with Erika and as Nurses. So as you can imagine I was super duper excited when I received a phone call from Tamara back in 2015 that she was engaged!
We headed off to the beach the first week of August 2015 to capture engagement photographs on Bribie Island which still to this day are some of my favourite photos I’ve taken! Now two years later it’s Tamara and Darcy’s Wedding day!
A warm August morning for Bridal prep at the Mother of the Brides house with gorgeous hair and makeup by Velbella. Then into the Limo to Latrobe Chapel for an intimate ceremony with their nearest and dearest.
Then! Tamara and Darcy were the centre of attention in Sideshow Alley at the Ekka this year!

“We loved that we could have a traditional intimate ceremony that was really personal and romantic and then just have a lot of fun with our friends. On the day, we were just elated. The pressure of the ceremony was over and we were joyful. People kept commenting and congratulating us. It was time to unwind and celebrate with our friends.” – Tamara
It was fete Tamara and Darcy met at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, then had their first date across the road at Victoria Park and now they returned to the Ekka on their wedding day with their friends in the bridal party to ride the dodgems, carousel and eat lollipops!
I love getting to know each couple, and to capture in photos their personality in unique surroundings, Tamara and Darcy are my kind of crazy and we thought heading to the Ekka was genius! Like kids having fun at the EKKA, you couldn’t take the smiles off our faces. It was such a rush of pure joy and excitement to be photographing such an important life milestone at the EKKA. Tamara and I have been enjoying the Ekka every year since childhood!
“My sister (Maid of Honour) and I have never missed a year going to the Ekka. And since moving to Brisbane Darcy has joined us. My favourite thing to do is stroll around and look at the cows, I love the grand parade and in the past few years the Woolworths pavilion has expanded and we get lost for hours in there trialling food and wine from all over Queensland.”
“Darcy is scared on the big rides, but I love them! The scarier the better. On the day the bumper cars were awesome. Everyone was just having fun and acting like big kids. But my favourite photo on the day was next to the moving carousel, it was beautiful and created exactly the image I dreamt of when heading to side show alley. The photos look amazing! I am beyond happy with them. Incredible job. I am crazy about them, they look so freaking good” – Tamara
Everyone went out of their way to help the Bride and Groom to get their perfect Wedding photos. The ride operators were such gentlemen helping Tamara onto rides in her Wedding dress. Attraction attendants let us play games, pose for photos with giant stuffed toys and massive lollipops. The Royal Queensland Show even provided us with our own personal security guard, John to help everything run smoothly.
After our epic whirlwind Ekka adventure it was back through the onlooking crowds to our awaiting Limo then onto the Reception at Victoria Park but not before stopping for some fancy fairy light photos and tradition couple photographs amongst the chandeliers of the Victoria Park Ballroom.
A strong sense of family through love, tartan and bagpipes filled the air of the night, topped off with a cake made by the Bride and her Mum 🙂
I’m so sad it’s over!!! Let’s get together for a 1 year anniversary Ekka photo shoot Tamara and Darcy?!?
